how to automatically download music when downloaded in your PC

Xbox music is tightly integrated with cloud allowing you to automatically keep your music content always in sync. Lets assume that you own multiple devices like Windows 8 PC, Xbox gaming console, Windows phone, etc. With your Xbox music subscription you will be able to download the music to all the devices automatically when you download / buy them.

  1. Use the same Microsoft account for all the devices you want to keep in sync.
  2. Install Xbox Music to your Windows 8 PC if you don’t have it already installed.
  3. Start using the Xbox Music app in all your devices.
  4. Now, when you navigate to https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Devices/Manage you will be able to see all the devices you are using with the id. You can remove a device from here if you don’t want it to use the music feature.
  5. If you are not seeing your phone in the devices list, then follow the below steps on your phone.
  6. In your windows phone.
    1. Navigate to the settings.
    2. Swipe right to the “applications” tab.
    3. Tap at “music+videos”.
    4. Turn on the option “Connect with Xbox Music.”
    5. Play a music from the store.
  7. By default all your downloads will synced to the devices. Follow the below steps if they aren’t, as they can change based on your data preferences.
  8. In your Windows 8 PC, navigate to the “Xbox Music” app.
  9. Open the charms (by hovering your mouse to the right top corner or swiping right on the screen).
  10. Tap / Click the “Settings”.
  11. Tap / Click the “Preferences”.
  12. If you own a “Music Pass” and want to keep your music downloads, turn on the switch under “Music Pass downloads”.
  13. If you want your music collection to be in sync with all the devices, turn on the switch under “Xbox Music Cloud”.
  14. If you want your PC to download the music automatically if you download / add it to the Phone or Xbox gaming console, then turn on the switch which says “When I add songs to my music on other devices, download them here”.
  15. Now head back to your windows phone.
  16. Navigate to the settings.
  17. Swipe right to the “applications”.
  18. Tap at “music+videos”.
  19. Turn on the switch under “Xbox music cloud collection”.

Once you have set all the above settings your devices should be in sync with the music you download on any device. Do remember that turning on this feature will use your data / WiFi for downloading based on availability and therefore ensure that your data plan is good enough to support this.
